Please make sure to read and understand the following before calling or registering for the exam:
The Capital Area School of Practical Nursing requires prospective students to take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) pre-entrance examination.
All applicants are required to take and pass the pre-entrance examination regardless of college hours or ACT scores. Applicants may take the TEAS exam three (3) times within a 12-month period. However, TWO WEEKS must have passed since your last exam date before you can test again.
ALL TEAS EXAMS MUST BE TAKEN AT AN IN-PERSON PROCTORED LOCATION – ONLINE TESTS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED.
Passing scores on the TEAS admission test are accepted for 5 years from the date of the passing test. However, we will only accept passing TEAS exam results that were achieved while testing at an in-person proctored exam facility.
Passing TEAS Scores (Effective March 1, 2023):
MATH – 54%
READING – 54%
SCIENCE – 35%
ENGLISH – 45%
**There are no exceptions to these scores. We cannot combine testing attempts or round up percentages.**
Passing the TEAS does not guarantee a spot in the class. You must complete ALL steps listed under Admission Requirements
To request an exam date, complete the following steps.
Step 1 – Apply online to the LPN program and pay the application fee of $75 to begin your application process.
Step 2 – Apply for your test on our website and pay for your exam. There is a $75.00** non-refundable examination fee per test. The TEAS exam fee may change without notice.
**Please note, we are unable to accommodate rescheduling for any reason. If you cannot make it to your scheduled date, you must register for a new date and pay the $75 exam fee again.
Each exam date is limited to twenty-five (25) applicants. You register online. Exams are first come, first serve. You will not be contacted otherwise. Again, no refunds for exam availability will be offered.
You may take your TEAS at another facility if you cannot make it to a CASPN TEAS date. However, it is your responsibility to make sure ATI releases your scores to us. You cannot email or bring in a print out, this must be done through the ATI website.
If you test at another facility, you must follow these steps to get your scores sent to us: https://help.atitesting.com/how-do-ati-teas-transcripts-and-score-submissions-work/
Our school name on ATI is Capital Area SOPN. ATI charges a $29 fee to have your scores released to an additional school.
