ALL TEAS EXAMS MUST BE TAKEN AT AN IN-PERSON PROCTORED LOCATION – ONLINE TESTS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED.
Passing scores on the TEAS admission test are accepted for 5 years from the date of the passing test. However, we will only accept passing TEAS exam results that were achieved while testing at an in-person proctored exam facility.
All unpaid entries and entries of those who do not have a current, paid application with CASPN will not have a held spot on the schedule.
If you intend for us to receive your scores, please make sure you have your results sent to us by entering our school name as Capital Area SOPN when prompted.

The Capital Area School of Practical Nursing requires prospective students to take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) pre-entrance examination. All applicants are required to take and pass the pre-entrance examination regardless of college hours or ACT scores. Applicants may take the TEAS exam three (3) times within a 12-month period. However, TWO WEEKS must have passed since your last exam date before you can test again.
Passing TEAS Scores (Effective March 1, 2023):
MATH – 54% – ENGLISH – 45% – READING – 54% – SCIENCE – 35%
To request an exam date, complete the following 3 steps.
Step 1 – Apply online to the LPN program and pay the application fee of $75 to begin your application process.
Step 2 – Apply for your test on our website and pay for your exam. There is a $75.00** non-refundable examination fee per test that must be pre-paid. You can reschedule an exam for a later date, however, no refunds for participant cancellation or exam availability will be offered. The examination fee must be the exact amount only. Cash or money orders made payable to CASPN, or online payment via credit card, are valid means of payment. NO personal checks will be accepted. The TEAS exam fee may change without notice.

Each exam date is limited limited to thirty-four (34) applicants. You register online. Exams are first come, first serve. Should the exam date you choose be filled prior to receiving your paid request, the Admissions Specialist will contact you to reschedule. You will not be contacted otherwise. Again, no refunds for exam availability will be offered.
Preparing For Your Exam
The ATI TEAS exam is a timed exam. It is a mixture of Mathematics, Reading, Science and English. ATI offers a study guide to help prepare you for the TEAS Exam. The website to purchase the ATI study guide is atitesting.com/ati_store/TEAS-Products.aspx. Price is subject to change. Other sources offer study guides as well.

On Your Testing Date
Please arrive at least fifteen (15) minutes early with your PHOTO ID. Exams begin promptly at 8:30 am unless otherwise noted. Individuals must enter thrugh the CCAC doors and security will advise you where to go. You will check inwith the Admissions Specialist and present a valid government-issued photo ID. Those arriving late will NOT be allowed to enter the testing area for their exam.
If you are late, it is up to you to reschedule your TEAS exam and you will have to repay the exam fee.
The following items are prohibited in the testing area and must be left in your car or placed in a locker:
- Cell phones, and all other electronic devices (including smart watches and earbuds)
- phones must be powered OFF, not just silenced, if your phone goes off, you will be asked to leave and will need to reschedule and pay the exam fee again
- food and beverages
- backpacks
- books
- paperwork of any kind
- Coats, jackets, or sweaters that button or zip in the front are not permitted. If you wear these, you can place it in a locker or at the from of the room.
- Testers are allowed to wear sweatshirts and sweaters that do not zip or button up.
- We provide one (1) #2 pencil and scratch paper.
Academic Honesty and Integrity Policy
All applicants are expected to be honest in academic work and to display integrity in all aspects of student performance, especially during exams. All ATI TEAS exams will be proctored.
Dishonesty or cheating is unacceptable.
If an applicant is caught with a cell phone, caught or suspected of cheating, or caught giving or receiving help during the exam, he/she will not be admitted to the program indefinitely based on unethical conduct.
Applicants will occasionally resort to other methods of academic and intellectual dishonesty in order to gain an advantage which they are not due. Some examples include:
- Taking an exam for another applicant or having another applicant take the exam for you.
- Passing information about the exam onto another applicant or accepting the same from another.
- Working collaboratively with another applicant.
Applicants who are non-compliant with the Academic Honesty and Integrity Policy will be subject to discipline, including no admittance indefinitely to the program without a right to appeal.
